Dear Friends in the Brooklyn AGO,
I hope this finds you all well, and enjoying the wind-down of summer! Your Board has been working on the ‘wind-up’ of our fall-winter-spring programming, and I am writing to advise you of the first two events, which will both happen in June:
Annual Picnic & Installation of Officers - Sunday, September 18, 2011, 4:00 pm. As we have in years past, we will meet at St. John’s Church, 139 St. John’s Place, in Park Slope. Bring food to share; if you are unsure what to bring, contact Sub-Dean Raymond Trapp for suggestions. Weather permitting, we will enjoy the lovely outdoor patio at St. John’s (otherwise, we will be in the Undercroft). Following some time to visit, eat and drink, we will have a brief ceremony to install the Chapter officers for the coming year. I hope you all will be able to join us for this relaxed time together.
Bach-to-Brooklyn – Saturday, September 24, 2011, Time TBA. This year’s tour will take us to several churches in the Park Slope area. Because all are within walking distance, we will be using foot-transportation. However, motor transport will be available for those who are unable to walk from site to site. As usual, we will be joined by NYC Historian, Andrew Dolkart, who will share his detailed knowledge of the neighborhood, the churches, their architecture, and the history that ties them all together. A box lunch will be provided. The fee is $25 for members of the Brooklyn Chapter, AGO, and $35 for all others. Flyers will be sent shortly with all pertinent details. In the meantime, mark your calendars, and plan to join us for what is always a distinctive offering of the Brooklyn Chapter.
Finally, if you have not already done so, don’t forget to send in your membership renewal! You are each an important part of this Chapter, and it is to the benefit of all of us, and of our profession, to have our colleagues enjoying the benefits, privileges, and mutual support of membership in the American Guild of Organists. You should have received a renewal notice by e-mail, as well as another in regular mail. If you still don’t have your renewal form, go to the Chapter website, www.brooklynago.org, where you can find a downloadable version of the form. We look forward to having you with us for the continuation of the 50th Anniversary programs of the Brooklyn Chapter, AGO!
With kind regards,
Gregory Eaton, Dean
