Greetings from the Brooklyn Chapter of the
American Guild of Organists!

Welcome to the online home of the Brooklyn Chapter of the American Guild of Organists! I'm delighted you've stopped by.

The American Guild of Organists was founded in 1896, and over the years has grown and expanded, adding more and more local chapters to serve our growing membership.Although the Guild was founded in New York City, local New York City chapters came into existence only slowly; Brooklyn is the youngest of these, having been established in May of 1960. Of course, the Guild held an inaugural service here, with tremendous fanfare, early in 1897, barely six months into its existence. Our Borough is woven into the earliest history of the Guild.

Although we come together in the midst of the most populous of New York City's five boroughs, we are not a remarkably large chapter. We are the right size to get to know you, to become your friends, to support you in your musical life. I invite you to come and get to know us better. Join us for our picnics and banquets, for our road trips and members' recitals. Join us for "Bach to Brooklyn." In fact, why don't you just
join us!

Above all, I encourage you to be a devoted member of the AGO, and to give it your enthusiastic support. Few musicians need this kind of organization more than organists, we who preside in lonely splendor over the King of Instruments. Let us bloom where we are planted, let us preserve our heritage, and let us secure for it and ourselves a bright and happy future.
