BROOKLYN CHAPTER 2007 ANNUAL MEMBERS' RECITAL

The 2007 Members Recital of the Brooklyn Chapter AGO was a remarkable success on all levels. It was excellent musically, it was excellent in terms of community building, and we had the privilege of performing at a magnificent church. We gathered on Sunday, March 18, at 4 PM, at Janes United Methodist Church, 660 Monroe St. at Malcolm X Drive. We enjoyed the church's fifty-plus-rank, three-manual Austin.

Billed as "American Premieres," the recital featured two world premieres--a work for organ and oboe by Barry Mosher and two psalms for organ and baritone by Julian Goodwin. Gregory Eaton was the organist for the first, and Don Barnum sang fabulously for the second. Also on the program was the Brooklyn premiere of David Hurd's Sonata for Alto Saxophone and Organ, a major piece that was premiered last summer in Ljubljana.

Our warm thanks to Pastor Simpson and the staff of Janes UMC for their hospitable welcome!
