The Organist/Pianist Role in the Temple Service

Cantor Ayelet Porzecanski will conduct a fascinating workshop on the role of the organist/pianist in the temple service. There will be hands-on opportunity to improvise accompaniments under Cantor Ayelet's guidance, and she will offer suggestions for how to play and prepare a temple service.  Cantor Ayelet's presentation will include the history of the organ in temple worship, dating back to the 1700s and derived from the European tradition.  Invaluable for anyone who plays or aspires to play at temple services.

Cantor Ayelet holds degrees in music from the University of Toronto and the Manhattan School  of Music. She received her investiture as Cantor from the Jewish Theological Seminary in 2008. Cantor Porzecanski has served as Cantor at  Brooklyn Heights Synagogue since 2019. Prior to coming to BHS she served as Cantor at West End Synagogue in NYC for years 11 years.

An informal reception will follow.
